Finally! We are back online! After over a year of server issues we have finally found a host that can handle us. The great news is that there was almost no data loss even though we had two server crashes that wiped out the entire site. We will continue working on small bugs and layout improvements. If you find a bug please post it on the Site Bugs forum. Thanks!

The only model app that I know of that handles .vft's is Milkshape.  You could use GCFScape to extact the textures and decopile with vtf2tga or get the photoshop plugin, open, and save as a .tga.

I don' t know how to that since I don't use 3dmax. You might try over at interlopers.net in the modeling forums. There are a ton of people that use it there. IIRC, there is tut on UV mapping and applying a texture too.

But once you can open the .tga in 3dmax you can do all your texturing, export the model, then covert the .tga. The model will retain the mapping and the .vft correctly map to it.

Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck on finding what you need.

http://www.wunderboy.org/sourceapps.php

Here found this, it's a plugin or something that allows you to work with .vft files inside of 3d max. Plus there are some other goodies on the site.

You have 3dmax and are using XSI? There is a plugin to export .smd for max. Most good modelers are using 3dmax for source, they dislike using XSI too.
